This form of pain relief is probably the most common and most popular due to its availability and simplicity. There are numerous drugs ranging from Tramadol to Skelaxin, which are all used in different situations and for different types of pain. Strong painkillers such as Tramadol are used both for acute pain and chronic pain conditions, while other may be used only in cases of muscle pain. It all depends on the type of pain you suffer from and what causes it – there’s definitely a drug for that out there.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is definitely the most popular type of natural alternative pain relief as it involves techniques not characteristic to the traditional Western medicine. However, its effectiveness is undisputed and used in cases of chronic pain conditions such as arthritis and osteoarthritis. Acupuncture involves introduction of very thin needles into specific points all over the body which are believed to control the flow of vital energy (“qi”). This technique is rarely used in cases of acute pain due to its repetitive nature.
Topical solutions
There are numerous topical solutions for pain relief on the market. They range by purpose and form, providing pain relief almost for any types of pain. There are cremes and gels that work as anesthetics during surgeries or other topical interventions. There are gels and liquids for relieving muscle and joint pain. There are even solutions that work for chronic pain conditions. However, if compared to other forms of medications (oral and injections) topical solutions are quite often less effective in the pain relief they deliver.
